Discovery Flight
An introductory, no-obligation flight around beautiful San Diego, CA to help discover if aviation is right for you! This is an active experience: You will be hands-on the controls and flying as much as possible, and you’ll be learning the entire time.
Am I eligible?
Virtually anyone with a sincere interest in exploring flight training is eligible, and there is no commitment to continue training afterward if you discover that flight isn’t for you! However, you must be a United States citizen, or legally in the United States on a non-“F” or “M” visa.
Students in the United States on “F” or “M” visas have limited options for flight training and should obtain more information from Daniel Durrand (or another certified instructor).
You will walk away with a realistic picture of what it takes to earn a private pilot certificate, and with all your questions answered.
How long will it take?
The typical discovery flight is 2 hours from start to finish, with approximately 1 hour of actual flight time.
Note that discovery flights are not sightseeing tours. You’ll certainly get a good view of San Diego, CA and have a lot of fun, but we’ll primarily focus on the basics of flight training in one of the standard local practice areas.
What will it cost?
The typical discovery flight costs $300, including the 1 hour of flight time and my discounted introductory instructional rate.
